BKC: The Global Standard Disinfectant Active
Benzalkonium Chloride is a cationic surfactant and quaternary ammonium biocide. Its mechanism of action — disrupting the lipid bilayer of microbial cell membranes — makes it broadly effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, fungi, yeasts, and enveloped viruses (including SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV, influenza A, herpes simplex, and HIV).
Reference grades from Lonza (Bardac® 22, Bardac® 2280, Hyamine® 3500), Stepan (BTC® 824, BTC® 8358), Nouryon/AkzoNobel (Maquat® MC 1412, Maquat® 4480-E), Pilot Chemical (Lonzabac® 50/80), and Kao (Sanisol® C) are the formulation standards used by global disinfectant brands. Vasudev Chemo Pharma's BKC 50% (VCP-SFC-0005) and BKC 80% (VCP-SFC-0006) are functionally equivalent to all of these reference grades — same active substance (ADBAC), same C₁₂–C₁₆ alkyl distribution, same regulatory approvals.

Search Language, Chemical Names, and Buying Terms
Buyers and technical teams often search disinfectants & sanitizers — benzalkonium chloride (bkc) manufacturer direct using a mix of chemical identity, functional terminology, and commercial procurement phrases. Some users ask for MEA Triazine by its full chemistry name, others search for hydrogen sulfide scavenger, gas sweetener, desulfurizer, mercaptan scavenger, or even preservation-oriented terms that overlap with triazine chemistry in other markets.
Common chemical name searches: 1,3,5-Triazine-1,3,5(2H,4H,6H)-triethanol; 1, 3, 5-Tris (2-hydroxyethyl) hexahydro-triazine; Hexahydro-1,3,5-tris(2-hydroxyethyl)-s-triazine; HEXAHYDRO-1,3,5-TRIS(HYDROXYETHYL)-5-TRIAZINE; TRIS(N-HYDROXYETHYL) HEXAHYDROTRIAZINE; 2,2',2''-(1,3,5-triazinane-1,3,5-triyl)triethanol; 2,2',2''-(hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine-1,3,5-triyl)triethanol; 2,2',2''-(hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine-1,3,5-triyl)triethanol (HHT); 2,2',2''-(Hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine-1,3,5-triyl) Triethanol; 1,3,5-tris(2-hydroxyethyl)hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine; triazinetriethanol; Triazinetriethanol; MEA based Triazine; MEA Triazine; 1,3,5-Triazine; J2.219E; s-Triazine-1,3,5-triethanol.

Matching the chemical name, CAS number, concentration, end use, and required documents is the best way to select the right application and supplier.
Frequently asked questions
Is Benzalkonium Chloride EPA-registered for hospital surface disinfection?+
Benzalkonium Chloride is registered as an antimicrobial active substance under US EPA PC Code 069105. The EPA's List N: Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2 includes hundreds of BKC-based products at 0.1% – 0.4% active quat. Vasudev Chemo Pharma supplies BKC 50% and BKC 80% as raw material — finished disinfectant products themselves must be EPA-registered separately by the formulator before commercial sale.
Can BKC be used as a no-rinse food-contact sanitiser?+
Yes, at maximum 200 ppm active quat per FDA 21 CFR 178.1010. Above 200 ppm, residue levels exceed the no-rinse threshold and the surface must be rinsed with potable water before food contact. Always validate with the registered finished product label and local food-safety regulations (e.g. local FSANZ, EFSA, FSSAI in India).
What is the difference between BKC 50% and BKC 80% for disinfectant formulation?+
Same active substance (ADBAC, CAS 8001-54-5), different concentrations. BKC 50% is the global formulation reference standard — used directly in finished disinfectant formulations. BKC 80% is the export-economical concentrate — disinfectant brands and sanitiser blenders procure 80% from India and dilute on-site to 50%, 25%, or 10% for finished products. BKC 80% saves ~37% freight cost per kilogram of active matter shipped.
Is BKC compatible with all surfactants in cleaning-disinfectant formulations?+
No. BKC is INCOMPATIBLE with anionic surfactants (LABSA, SLES, SLS, soaps) — mixing forms an insoluble ion-pair complex that destroys biocidal activity. BKC IS compatible with nonionic surfactants (alcohol ethoxylates, APGs, Tween series), amphoteric surfactants (cocamidopropyl betaine when pH > IEP), and other cationic systems. Cleaning-disinfectant blends must be formulated by trained chemists.
Do you supply BKC to global disinfectant brands and EPA-registered formulators?+
Yes. We supply BKC 50% and BKC 80% to disinfectant brands, sanitiser blenders, EPA-registered formulators, cosmetic preservation houses, water-treatment chemical companies, and pharmaceutical OEMs across the USA, EU, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Vietnam, Russia, Egypt, and 25+ other countries. FOB / CIF / CFR Incoterms from Kandla, Mundra, Hazira ports with full export documentation including Halal and GMP certificates.
