How Is Bronopol Assayed Under the BP/Ph. Eur. Monograph?
The BP/Ph. Eur. assay method dissolves the sample in water and sodium hydroxide, reacts it with nickel-aluminium alloy to release bromide, then titrates with silver nitrate and ammonium thiocyanate using an iron(III) indicator to quantify the bromine content, calculated against C3H6BrNO4.
