Benzalkonium Chloride 80% is bought as a concentrate and diluted on-site. This guide gives the mass ratios to step down to BKC 50%, 25% and 10%, and to reach final-use disinfectant, food-contact and pool concentrations.

Stepping down to standard concentrations
By mass: 62.5 kg BKC 80% + 37.5 kg demineralised water → 100 kg BKC 50% (matches Bardac® 22 / BTC® 824 grade). 31.25 kg BKC 80% + 68.75 kg water → 100 kg BKC 25%. 12.5 kg BKC 80% + 87.5 kg water → 100 kg BKC 10%. Always add concentrate to water with agitation, warm the concentrate above 15 °C first, and use demineralised water to avoid hard-water precipitation.

Direct from BKC 80%: hospital hard-surface disinfectant at 0.4% active = 5.0 g per litre water; routine sanitiser at 0.2% = 2.5 g/L; food-contact no-rinse at 200 ppm = 0.25 g/L (do not exceed, FDA 21 CFR 178.1010); pool algicide preventive at 10 ppm = 12.5 g per 1,000 L pool water. Verify efficacy and avoid anionic surfactants, which deactivate the cationic quat.
