How it removes H2S

When hydrogen sulphide contacts the triazine ring, the reaction proceeds in steps: the first mole of H2S converts the triazine to a mono-thio intermediate, and the second produces dithiazine. The by-products are water-soluble and non-toxic, so they can be handled in standard produced-water systems. The reaction is fast at ambient temperature and accelerates at the 40–80 °C conditions common in oilfield operations.

Oil & gas applications

In upstream operations it is injected at the wellhead or into gathering lines to protect infrastructure and meet pipeline H2S specifications. In midstream gas processing it is used in bubble and spray towers for deep sweetening. Refineries use it to treat off-gases from distillation, hydrotreating and coking units, and for tank-vapour and crude-stabilisation duty.

Biogas, wastewater and other uses

Beyond oil and gas, it removes H2S from biogas and landfill gas to meet pipeline-injection or power-generation specifications, and controls sulphide odour and corrosion in municipal and industrial wastewater. It also acts as a formaldehyde-releasing biocide for metalworking fluids. Typical dosing is around 1.5–3 L per kg of H2S, confirmed against field data.
